Almost 500,000 tra\u00advel\u00adlers arrive, depart or con\u00adti\u00adnue their jour\u00adney here every day. Being mobile, being on the move, being able to move freely is a cen\u00adtral motor of life, a mat\u00adter of course for many. Free\u00addom of move\u00adment is a fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtal right for EU citi\u00adzens. In the sum\u00admer of 2015, peo\u00adple at the \u00bbgates of Europe\u00ab fought hard for a brief moment to take this for gran\u00adted. Some of them also arri\u00adved here at the main sta\u00adtion in Frank\u00adfurt in search of a life in safety and peace. The images of civil society for help and soli\u00adda\u00adrity at the main sta\u00adtion here and throug\u00adhout Ger\u00admany were emble\u00adma\u00adtic of the so-cal\u00adled \u00bbGer\u00adman wel\u00adcome cul\u00adture\u00ab at the time. While this fit in quite well with the self-image of a huma\u00adni\u00adta\u00adrian, (once again) good Ger\u00adman nation, it also stood in stark con\u00adtrast to the rea\u00adli\u00adties of Ger\u00adman asylum and migra\u00adtion policy.  <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Raci\u00adally excluded and controlled<\/h2>\n

Rea\u00adli\u00adties of racism and natio\u00adna\u00adlism inscribe them\u00adsel\u00adves into the city and as well as into people\u2019s lives here at main sta\u00adtion. Because free\u00addom of move\u00adment does not apply equally to all peo\u00adple. Mobi\u00adlity is cate\u00adgo\u00adri\u00adsed, eva\u00adlua\u00adted, pro\u00admo\u00adted or limi\u00adted. Peo\u00adple are made into \u00bbexpats\u00ab, \u00bbrefu\u00adgees\u00ab or \u00bbmigrants\u00ab.  When \u00bbmigra\u00adtion\u00ab is men\u00adtio\u00adned, it is often in a nega\u00adtive and racist con\u00adtext.
